A reader from Dubai asks: I am a commerce graduate and have worked for a Dubai company as an assistant accountant since May 2006. I have been provided with an ordinary labour visa (limited contract) with an agreed salary of Dh1,200 per month (including accommodation and transportation). Now, the company is deducting Dh100 per month as visa fees since July 2006. My questions are:
1. Should I have to pay my visa fees or is it the company's responsibility?
( F2. Since my family are badly in need of me back home what will be the notice period for an ordinary labour category visa holder if I resign from my present job?
3. I have been provided with an offer letter as an assistant accountant. Will it be a legal document to produce? 3 X6 U! C4 c0 m; Y( z& ~

I would confirm to the questioner all visa and residence expenses should be incurred by the employer. As for the possibility of leaving the job, he cannot leave before the expiry of the limited contract period otherwise he will be subject to a penalty, for breaching the labour contract, which is a labour ban for one year, in addition to compensating the employer. I advise the questioner to notify his employer of his wish to leave his job a month before the expiry of his labour contract, or as specified in his contract.
