在中国很流行用out表示“落伍”、“跟不上潮流”，比如 out man：一个落伍的人。
这该算中文里新兴的外来语；不能严格按英语里的定义来理解了。
英语里没有单用out来表示“落伍”，也没有“out man”之说。
我们可以说 outdated, out of touch, out of fashion等。
